Match Preview : Chelsea vs Spurs

Thomas Tuchel and his players take to the home turf Stamford Bridge for the first time in the 2022/2023 premier league season on Sunday against fierce rivals Tottenham.

In recent meetings, Tuchel and Chelsea have seemed unstoppable against their counterparts from North London with a record of 5 wins in 5 for Tuchel as Chelsea’s manager while also not conceding a single goal against Conte’s charges in four outings last season (Two of which came in the Carabão cup).

With both sides strengthening their respective squads in the ongoing summer transfer window, Spurs’ manager Antonio Conte will look to weigh his squad’s improvement against a side that defeated his team rather embarrassingly on four different occasions last season.

Hosts Chelsea :

With Tuchel having a major hand in the transfers of players so far and still hoping to get in more reinforcements, this game against Spurs might well be the window for his new signings to show he’s done a brilliant job so far in identifying talents and also give the owners the confidence to push even harder for his targets. Coming into the second game of the season, Tuchel will be hoping his players have the stamina and physical output to match Conte’s well drilled side at the Bridge.

Tuchel while addressing the press earlier today explained that two players will be missing in action.
Marcos Alonso who departs for Barcelona any time from now and Mateo Kovaciç who TT mentioned has got a knee problem. The team’s new signings (Sterling, Koulibaly and Cucurella) will also be introduced to the home fans for the first time and the trio would expect to play a part in the game.

Key men for the blues includes new signings Raheem Sterling and Marc Cucurella while N’golo Kante has a huge probability to be a game winner at the Bridge.

Visitors Spurs :

Antonio Conte takes his charges to Stamford Bridge with the hope of ending a poor run of four consecutive losses without scoring against the West London outfit and with his Spurs side starting the season with a convincing 4-1 win over Southampton. Conte’s side are in somewhat of a purple patch after ending the previous domestic season with 4 wins out of five.

With a deadly front three of Kane, Son and Kulusevki, Conte has an attack certain to cause troubles for any defence. The three front Men for Spurs remain their most potent weapons and Conte is certain to rely heavily on them to deliver the goods at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs have a healthy team with only Oliver Skipp ruled out due to injury.

Expected Line (Chelsea 4-4-1-1);
Mendy, James, Silva, Koulibaly, Cucurella,Ziyech, Kante, Jorginho, Mount, Sterling, Havertz.

Score prediction; Chelsea 1-1 Spurs

The match kicks off 4:30 pm UK time on Sunday.
