Sources : Juliano Beletti considered for vacant sporting director role

Chelsea are considering a number of potential sporting director candidates ahead of an appointment to conduct business in the January transfer window and beyond and ChelseaFC365 understands that Juliano Beletti is being considered for the role.

It’s thought that Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital will pursue first choice targets Michael Edwards and Paul Mitchell first, but they do have an eye on former players with business expertise as potential fall back options.

Beletti is understood to have been recommended by Marina Granovskia, and was considered for a similar role in 2018 to work alongside then managerial target Luis Enrique who was a potential replacement for Antonio Conte should he have quit Chelsea. Chelsea eventually sacked Conte in July that year, with Maurizio Sarri the chosen replacement for the 2019/20 season.

Currently, Beletti is U21 coach for São Paulo.

One source mentioned a potential re-union for Chelsea with Michael Ballack, whilst Didier Drogba is thought to be occupied with consistent non footballing work in Africa.

As with Chelsea, in games, outside of games, the real thought should be “Never say Never” to anything and we expect more news to be filtered into the media soon on potential candidates for both sporting director and Chief scout roles.

Who would you like to see take up both positions?
