West Ham may be forced to listen to big bids for Rice

West Ham’s January inactivity has made it more likely that Declan Rice will not sign a contract extension, according to a report from Matt Law.

Matt Law states that Rice has turned down several contract offers amid interest from other clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City. Chelsea and Manchester United are saving their cash ahead of the summer window, Matt Law states.

West Ham are expected to seriously consider bids that just fall short of the £100m mark, there’s been no solid indication that Chelsea are willing to spend that sort of money on a midfielder, perhaps targeting Tchouameni from Monaco who would cost maximum £65m, would be a better option and leave more cash for other areas.

It remains to be seen what Chelsea do in terms of next summer, and the latest financial accounts do not look good reading, having netted a loss of £156m for the 2020/21 season, mainly due to the effects of the pandemic, Owner Roman Abramovich continues to support Chelsea, however it’s not to the extent of pumping in hundreds of millions like he used to, Chelsea are already £1.5bn in debt to the Russian owner.
