Player ratings: Chelsea bounce back with 3-2 win over fellow strugglers Newcastle

Chelsea bounced back and answered doubts with a 3-2 win over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

The blues, for the first time in a long time, got better in the second half compared to the first.

Djordje Petrovic – 5

I was a bit disappointed tonight, and felt that despite both Newcastle goals being good finishes, he was beaten a little easily. Long balls are becoming a bit frustrating too but a lot of that is down to our poor structure to me.

Malo Gusto – 7

As he has been in recent weeks, Gusto was great tonight. A lot of our attacking play came down his side and he was hugely involved in it.

I would’ve given an 8, however his contribution to the comical goal we did concede was poor and unnecessary.

Axel Disasi – 6

Pretty standard overall, didn’t do anything standout poor.

Trevoh Chalobah – 5

Poor for Newcastle’s first goal, and slightly rusty for me. It is to be expected with him not being back for too long yet.

Marc Cucurella – 7

Considering he hasn’t seen the pitch since December, really good tonight and not really rusty like I expected.

Got spun for Newcastle’s second which was concerning to see but that doesn’t take away from an overall positive performance.

Moises Caicedo – 7

Very solid – 92% pass completion (SofaScore) and overall was good.

Enzo Fernandez – 5

Below par I felt, nothing too much of note from his performance.

Conor Gallagher – 6

A little like Enzo, not much of note to bring up tonight from Gallagher. It felt very much like a case of he did his job to a good enough standard but not much else – fine by me tonight.

Cole Palmer – 8

Another two goal involvements, one of which being a brilliantly taken goal to put us ahead. If it wasn’t for his goal involvements I don’t know where we’d be.

Nicolas Jackson – 7

A goal full of striker’s instinct? I’d say so. He fought well, was involved when he needed to be and all round was a real positive.

Raheem Sterling – 5

Hardly involved, and when he was, wasn’t influential.

Mauricio Pochettino – 6

A standard win, nothing spectacular and importantly, we have a shot at Europe.

Mykhailo Mudryk – 7

Actually very bright when he came on, scored a fantastic goal which will hopefully do his confidence the world of good.

Cesare Casadei – N/A

Carney Chukwuemeka – N/A
