Player ratings: Chelsea crumble away at West Ham with a howler debut from Moises Caicedo

London derby defeat for Chelsea as they succumbed to a 3-1 loss to West Ham at the London Stadium. Goals from Nayef Aguerd, Michail Antonio, and Lucas Paquetá were enough for the Hammers as they eased past Chelsea. There were a number of concerning performances for the Blues.

Robert Sánchez- 6/10

Not much Sánchez could do about any of the goals he conceded, with all of them finding the corner of the net. He did make one good save to deny Pablo Fornals late in the game

Axel Disasi- 3/10

Really poor from Disasi today, who looked very nervous on the ball when passing out from the back. Gave the ball away far too cheaply for Antonio’s goal. He was drawn into cheap fouls easily by West Ham.

Thiago Silva- 6/10

A quiet game for Thiago Silva at the centre of defence. Was part of a backline that conceded three but was not at fault himself for any of the goals. He will hope he can have more influence going forward.

Levi Colwill- 4/10

Another defender who struggled to deal with West Ham’s attackers. Was spun like a league two defender for West Ham’s second and didn’t improve from there. A very concerning performance for a man who is now on a long term deal at the club.

Malo Gusto- 6/10

There wasn’t much involvement today for the man who will likely be Reece James’ replacement for the foreseeable future. He did make one very good challenge to deny a West Ham counter-attack. Going forward he offered little.

Ben Chilwell- 6/10

Provided a lot of attacking threat but lacked the much desired impact. Chilwell had an early headed chance that failed to find the target, and provided a constant option on Chelsea’s left wing. Was substituted on 60 minutes with Chelsea trailing.

Enzo Fernández- 5/10

How big an impact will that missed penalty have on Chelsea’s season? Hugely disappointing forFernández who had a good first half overall. Played a great pass to Sterling and provided a good cross to Chilwell. He was poor in the second half and ultimately, however, that missed penalty cost his side the game.

Connor Gallagher- 5/10

Very poor defensively in dealing with Nayef Aguerd for West Ham’s opening goal. Gallagher struggled to create chances and break up play throughout the game for Chelsea. Was substituted for debutant Moises Caicedo.

Carney Chukwuemeka- 8/10

An absolutely devastating injury for a man who equalised for his side with a fantastic goal. Carney showed his skill to beat Tomáš Souček before powerfully driving the Blues level. Force off just before half-time, and hopefully his injury is not as disastrous as it looked.

Nicolas Jackson- 6/10

Whilst Jackson did show some very nice footwork in the build-up to Chelsea’s attacks, he once again lacked that end product in front of goal. He did well to draw Aguerd into making the foul that saw the West Ham defender receive a red card, but Chelsea’s new frontman failed to capitalise on that advantage.

Raheem Sterling- 7/10

Other than Chukwuemeka, the only Chelsea player who had a positive performance. Sterling was a constant thorn in West Ham’s side, making darting runs and providing opportunities for the Blues to capitalise. Did well to win a penalty that was missed by his teammate.

Subs

Mykhailo Mudryk- 2/10

Extremely concerning. There’s not a lot more to say about a man who cost almost £100 million and can’t do the basics right. Another dreadful performance and it is clear to see why Pochettino does not trust him to start games.

Moises Caicedo- 4/10

A nightmare debut for Chelsea’s new signing. Caicedo was very loose with the ball when he had it, giving it away on a number of occasions. Conceded a last minute penalty with a reckless tackle to help secure three points for West Ham.

Noni Madueke- 5/10

Hardly had an impact after being introduced from the bench. His first game back from injury so hopefully Madueke will improve as things go on.

Mason Burstow- N/A

Mauricio Pochettino- 4/10

Hopefully the last we see of three at the back for Chelsea for a significant time period. The setup in the first half was all wrong, and once West Ham went down to ten men things did not improve at all. Welcome to Chelsea, Poch.

In such conditions, there is no time elitecolumbia.com left to delve into an incomprehensible subject, and the solution book will help not to slide into triples and deuces.
