Player ratings: Chelsea smash their way into the Carabao Cup Final with SIX goals against Middlesbrough

WEMBLEY AWAITS!

Chelsea thrash Middlesbrough 6 (6) – 1 (2) to reach the Carabao Cup final, where we await either Liverpool or Fulham.

Let’s see how we played…

Djordje Petrovic – 6

No complaints, and nothing glaringly important to note, though a clean sheet would’ve been nice.

Axel Disasi – 8

Fantastic, and even scored a goal! Over 100 touches, two clearances and three tackles, all contributing to a really good night for the Frenchman.

I must give special mentions to him though because his goal was brilliantly taken.

Thiago Silva – 7

Classy as ever and faced no real troubles this evening. Here’s hoping this year will bring a Wembley win with him involved, because he absolutely deserves it.

Levi Colwill – 6

Much more solid, in a more natural position too, who’d have thought? 92% pass completion, 130 touches too. It surely proves that having a left back next to him is helpful.

Ben Chilwell – 7

Unexpectedly superb – and I say unexpected, because I didn’t anticipate a huge deal from someone who hasn’t played in a few months, but he was brilliant.

His inverted runs added a different dynamic to how we attacked at points in the first half, and he found a brilliant pass for Raheem Sterling in the buildup to our opener.

Moises Caicedo – 6

Solid at best really but by no means poor. Hardly misplaced a pass, though only had the 30 to attempt, which probably is still a poor reflection on us, and how we still don’t utilize his ability in buildup well enough.

Then again, no need for negativity, we’re finalists!

Enzo Fernandez – 7

A really good night topped off with a goal, with real likeness to something we used to see from a certain Frank Lampard, if you roll back the years.

He caused Howson a real headache in the first half, pulling him out of the makeshift back five which gave us much joy.

Seven from nine long balls completed too, it was an Enzo performance we’re used to seeing.

Raheem Sterling – 5

I don’t know if a five is slightly harsh? But I didn’t see much of Sterling tonight to suggest he should’ve been any higher.

Although with all that taken on board, he did get an assist for Disasi’s goal which put the game beyond doubt.

Cole Palmer – 8

Two brilliantly taken goals, both very different from each other, and a big chance created too.

He made up for the three huge misses up at Middlesborough in the first leg.

His first came from a result of great pressing/anticipation, which was followed by a cool finish into the corner, and his second being a neat tap in from a cutback. Superb all in all.

Mykhailo Mudryk – 4

Frustratingly, really really poor tonight and was rightfully taken off at half time. It felt as though he was often sat way to deep, and from what I could tell, both Enzo and Chilwell took opportunities to let him know.

Armando Broja – 4

A mere 14 touches of the ball in over an hour, it wasn’t a pretty watch from Broja tonight, and I feel a four is largely justified.

Mauricio Pochettino – 7

Tonight we saw a lineup with 10/11 in natural positions, and, whilst at times it was a little slow, we were clinical tonight, and the fact of the matter is, Poch has guided us to a cup final. He deserves credit for it, regardless of anything else.

Subs :

Noni Madueke – 6

He was bright, and even grabbed himself a goal, though there wasn’t a great deal else to add, so a steady six.

Alfie Gilchrist – N/A

Nothing of note during his time on the pitch.

Conor Gallagher – 7

Maybe an inflated rating due to the two assists, but he was involved as normal, winning three from four ground duels, in a game where it was nice for him to come into, and one that didn’t suit him starting – a correct call.

Carney Chukwuemeka – N/A

Leo Castledine – N/A
