Juan Mata has been pictured arriving at Manchester United’s Carrington training base by helicopter on Saturday morning and the switch is only subject to medical to be completed. Jose Mourinho confirmed the deal was struck between the two sides on his press conference on Friday. He said that it was Juan Mata’s wish to leave and play regularly at a top club in an important year with the World Cup right in the horizon this summer.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho praised the Spanish midfielder on Friday, saying: ‘Nobody here is jumping because Juan is leaving. After that, it’s the way you look at things. Would Chelsea supporters be happy if we stop a fantastic person they all like a lot from going and say you can only go if you go to Russia or China or France or Portugal?

Another big club wants him in a country where he loves to be. We had an offer which was the right offer a player of his quality.’
But, the Portuguese didn’t deny that the move was agreed in part for the club to be in the green for the upcoming Financial Fair Play rules that will take effect starting from the current season. Chelsea make more than 10m pound profit from the amount we paid Valencia in 2011 for the Spanish maestro. He ended up playing a crucial part in three important trophies including two amazing corners that produced a winning goals for two European successes in two years.
This season, Jose Mourinho preferred Oscar more than Juan Mata for the No. 10 spot and said many times that Juan Mata should adapt to the situation and acclimatize to the right winger spot. For that, he would have to track back and defend when the team isn’t in possession which is a different role than he ever had to do since he arrived at Chelsea.
He had it difficult to break into the starting 11 even from the bench lately after winning the player of the year award two years in consecutive. But, there is no denying of his professionalism and his dedication for the Chelsea fans that have adored him since he came and continue to do so with well wishes on his move to Manchester United.
Every fan is entitled to his/hers opinion and mine is that the club made an important and beneficial decision in letting him earn his wish and move to a top club. The move is beneficial to Juan and for the club since it’s the right offer. And considering that Man Utd are in poor poor form with a lot to rebuild in the squad, it isn’t an issue of Mata scuppering our title chances by joining a great rival. He isn’t moving to Man City nor to Arsenal were he could have managed to hurt as badly.
But, after all, I won’t be disappointed at him by even scoring on us while playing for the red devils. And that’s the personal respect and admiration I have had for him as a person and as a great player. In terms of financial POV, the move is beneficial to comply with the FFP rules and spend more to strengthen the squad that is doing well in the premier league at the moment.
The arrival of Mohamed Salah from FC Basel is an important deal for the future of the club since the player who haunted us twice in the Champions league this season is just 21 years of age. In addition, we have let go of the want-away Kevin De Bruyne, another smart move by Jose Mouirnho and also Michael Essien. This players weren’t happy with their roles and couldn’t help the team as Mourinho would like to. At the end of the day, the right moves were taken as all 3 players were granted their wish leave and also with the right amount of money coming in.
Nimanja Matic and Mohamed Salah are two players that fit into Mourinho’s style perfectly and they would benefit the team more in the future than in the present.
After all, I want to extend my sincerest wish to Juan Mata to do well at Manchester United and earn a place in the Spain national team for the World Cup this summer. we are 2 points behind the league leaders and Jaun had 1 assist in the BPL, I think Chelsea will do fine without him and they can spend the 40m usefully.
I still don’t completely understand why plastic fans wanted us to sell Mata to PSG if we were going to sell him. Why would we want to strengthen one of the strongest squads in the world? The Real Madrids, the Barcelonas (with UEFA’s help of course), the Bayern Munichs, the PSGs, teams that have a strong possibility of knocking us out the Champions League. These teams basically had no problem topping their more difficult groups, while we struggled to top ours. We have no desire to make any of these squads better in the future. Some people weren’t thinking things through. It seemed best for us to sell a player with a bad attitude who wanted out to a sinking ship, than to a European powerhouse. It feels good to watch Liverpool struggle because they beat us in the Champions League so much, so it will feel good to watch United struggle because they beat us to league and Champions League so much. Mata’s arrival will mean that either Mata, Rooney, or Januzaj will be on the bench. and eventually leave, helping us even more.
As we all know now, Mata gets fed up with the bench, and leaves. Wonder that he hasn’t left the Spain bench yet.
On a side note, Salah is exciting. You kind of get this feeling that Mourinho and the club hierarchy were thinking about the old wingers we had when they were considering buying him. In time, Mourinho can shape Schuerlle and Salah to be much like Cole/Duff/Robben were, and terrorize even the strongest defenses with their pace.
@lightning Then you should ask yourself, only a 100% plastic who doesn’t know a thing about football could say something like ‘Mata is a player with a bad attitude’… you also don’t know that Mata is CL tied he cannot play for PSG this year… they are already full and they don’t need Mata at all. – Why is it better to sell a player to foreign team than to your direct league rivals is not worth the answer, it’s beyond stupidity to even ask something like that.

I think Jose want MU to beat MC, Arsenal & Liverpool. That’s why he sell Juan to MU. Chelsea do not face MU anymore this season because already played 2 times in BPL. If this 2 side face each other in CL, Juan cannot played because he already register in Chelsea squads except FA cup.
Yeah all that is included plus the fact that he likes Man Utd, wants Rooney and a friend to Sir Alex Fergusen.

Short term strategy I think.
Many people will not stop crying on this issue, i used to discussed this with my friend that if mou should come to chelsea either mata or oscar will be benched or sold and now mata got sold not because he is not good but because of his laziness….. When we won the champions league many people have forgotten what meirelles, mikel did for us in man marking our opponent out, have you forgotten ramirez against barca? Have you forgotten the number of off side mata recorded and he’s not a striker…… When the other are fighting to get ball out of our danger zone, he sat comfortably at opponent half….. What we need is a team player and not self glory hunter like him who is not ready to make any sacrifice for the team….. As long as his caliber of player is here in chelsea, stoke city, west brom, west ham will continue gaining unnecessary point on us….. I wish him good luck at united and not against chelsea…

We know he is not the best player, but that doesn’t mean he is not a good player if you can use him. With that been said, it doesn’t mean Mourinho doesn’t know how to use him. Like he said, Mata is effective when you want to get on top of teams, apply more pressure like a double striker system. But unfortunately, the game is usually killed off before his introduction making it not viable for the boss. I think he would play in teams that like scoring lots of goals or a two striker system. My opinion.

This season is difficult for Jose as z game not killed timely in almost all games blue played b/c of missfiring of our strikers. As a reasult Jose focus to win z game until 90minutes over rather than giving chance to z unhappy bench players. Z win of z team was unconvincing so far seen so difficult to rotate & give chance to players not fit his style of play. As z game not killed timely, Jose focused on in what way he win z game rather than what we thought to play all unconvinced players to make them happy. He also know that some players not got enough playing time b/c of z game not ended timely even with playing of better performing players. He is forced to play Hazard, Ramirase and Oscar even to Carling cup as z team winning is not convinced and game winning is not known until 90′ over. B/c of this difficulty. If he follows last yrs playing style blue is now be 15 points behind z leaders. What we learn from early exist of carling cap is z unconviced win changed to defeat as playing with z unconvinced players. So why Mata fans insult and comment him wrongly? Z team lacks a winning mentality and wins bottom level clubs unconvincingly so how he rotates and make happy every fan Q. To me he does other coaches don’t. Benching Hazard and playing with Mata cost early exit of carling cap. He doesn’t fit his style of play.
