What to expect from Chelsea before transfer deadline day

It feels like an eternity since Todd Boehly’s consortium officially took over Chelsea at the end of last season but fast forward to today and there is only 3 more days left of what will be Todd Boehly’s first window in charge of the club. Many sources suggested that Boehly would allow Marina, buck and Cech to oversee what was being labelled as a “Transitional phase” by head coach Thomas Tuchel but all ended up departing for unknown reasons and Boehly went into the window alone and ready to battle Europe’s elite for the big signatures.

Boehly has spent plenty of his time this summer jetting around the world meeting some of Europe’s biggest agents, establishing important connections for the future, despite the fact that the consortium are expected to employ a full time director of football sharpish after the window ends.

ChelseaFC365 understands that Paul Mitchell is currently the outstanding favourite, but talks have been held with other individuals including Michael Edwards, who wants a break from football. It’s also thought that Thomas Tuchel will be involved in the decision making process as despite others claiming that Tuchel could be in danger should certain things happen this season, we understand that the consortium do not see a better replacement out there, and plan for the future to involve Tuchel heavily. The consortium are wary that Tuchel has fell out with multiple higher up individuals during his time at PSG and Dortmund, and want the relationship at Chelsea to be better with whoever is appointed.

So, what to expect before Thursday’s deadline? Let’s take a look..

Potential incomings :

Chelsea are NOT expected to dip into the midfield market unless they sanction a sale for Conor Gallagher and ChelseaFC365 understands Chelsea would be looking for a valuation of 35m GBP upwards to even entertain anything. Connor himself is thought to be wanting regular first team football before the world cup to enhance his chances so it remains to be seen if there is a twist of events in the last few days or if he will battle it out with the other midfielders for a regular spot in Chelsea’s side.

One option could be a loan move to Crystal Palace, in favour of Chelsea signing Zaha, who multiple top sources report has been discussed internally at Chelsea.

In the attacking sense, not too much is known about alternative targets as Chelsea chase a deal for Aubameyang. ChelseaFC365 understands talks will be held on Tuesday.

We reported on here a few weeks ago that Adama Traore was still on a list of targets but it was thought that he would be used as a RW/RWB hybrid and its unclear if Tuchel still wants this.

Chelsea admire Ivan Toney and looked at Sasa Kaladjzic, who has now joined Wolves. It’s understood that Chelsea were also offered Alvaro Morata and looked at Jamie Vardy, who preferred to stay at Leicester and has now agreed a 1 year deal.

We are awaiting an update on Anthony Gordon from the Everton Insider that exclusively reported information on ChelseaFC365 last week.

Nkunku is the new ownerships number 1 target next summer as things stand and we are told that Liverpool and Bayern Munich are the other clubs already planning a move.

Wesley Fofana completed his first part of his medical on Sunday in London before then travelling to New York to complete the rest, as per Boehly’s decision.

A private jet coming from Westhampton Beach in New York is set to land at Farnborough airport on Tuesday morning which is commonly used for Chelsea signings, could this be Fofana on his way back?

Potential outgoings :

Let’s run though all the potential outgoings and I know on them.

Christian Pulisic – Staying unless irresistible offer arrives, no loan.

Michy Batshuayi – Potential loan / contract terminated, a team in Belgium showed interest and also salertina in Italy for a loan.

Kenedy – No interest, potential contract terminated.

Ross Barkley – Contract terminated.

Hakim Ziyech – Talks over a loan with Chelsea covering wages discussed but not ongoing yet, Chelsea want a permanent sale ideally.

Conor Gallagher – Mentioned above previously.

These are the ones that I know stuff about but don’t rule out others leaving, the transfer window can throw up surprises and clubs will look for panic signings, lets hope Chelsea don’t do that.
